SWEDEN

Stockholm,  Sweden  27th and 28th July

Our hotel in Bergan was extremely nice, beds were so soft and the breakfast was sensational - heaps of vegies. Good breakfast was great due to the price of food in Norway.

Drive to the airport was funny seeing how Bergan had transformed in the last few hours back into sleepy little Bergen.

So, Norway has totally embraced the robot thing. You get a text message the day before asking if you want to check in. (More of a confirm that you are flying). You reply and get told your seat numbers. At the airport you walk up to a machine - enter booking number and get your boarding pass and luggage tickets. Then off to the conveyer belt where you scan your tag, it weighs your luggage then off it goes. We didn't speak to a human until Raina got a very thorough pat down in security.

The toilets had fresh orchids in them!!!

Now it's off to Sweden where our ship awaits!!!!

Goodbye Pretty Norway.

As we were flying into Sweden we saw huge storm out to one side, but we didn’t go through it. When we arrived our luggage was wet and said “Gee, when did it rain?” We had missed a huge storm, branches down everywhere, fences blown down and huge lake puddles everywhere. Our bus from the airport got caught in a HUGE traffic jam, but we eventually got through. So glad we were not in an expensive taxi with the metre running (normal price was about $90 AU.

Then, as we were driving down a smaller street the car in front stopped at the red light – as you do. The bus driver didn’t stop very quickly at all. We were sitting in the front seat and got to see the skid in slow motion. We didn’t hit the said Audi. We missed it by at least 1cm. The grey blob in the photo is all that we could see of the car!

Legend of the Seas – our home for the next 14 days. Smaller than Radiance but not hugely smaller, and very nice.

We wandered around and checked it out then went to “THE” club for a few champagnes. As usual they were not wasted.  Life is good!

Today, Sarah at age 24 entered her 40th country. Pretty impressive.

                       - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

  Monday 27th July.

We ventured into Stockholm by rejecting the transport at the port – a taxi was around $55 each way, the Hop ON Hop Off bus was $45 each. We walked 15 minutes up to the bus stop and got tickets for around $5 each. Much better.

   The city is lovely.

    Nasty, nasty natural cobblestones.

   The Royal Palace

  Old Town

And after more than a week, we found a Really good coffee shop.  Sarah is happy.

There was plenty of timber, so it must be a good coffee shop.

We looked in a map shop. they had a really nice tiny map of Europe from 1500's. Sarah thought it would be nice for her room - until she saw the $450 price tag.

And suddenly, Sarah decided she was sick of smiling.  (but not for long).

\
There is a big Gay Pride march on Saturday and all the government vehicles are flying Gay Pride flags.

 The Harbour area.

Because Shrimp and Tacos are such a natural mix.

A march - just for us we think!!!

The port is designed for dopey tourists. You need to follow the blue line to get to town. You cannot just look up and go that way!
